| | | | | | | | | | | 12/31/2006: Flyerstarter Uploads Section Improved | (Published by Keith Tuomi) | Responding to your feedback, we have re-worked the Flyerstarter uploads section, making it (hopefully) easier to use.
Our experiment of having people zip up submissions before uploading proved to more of a headache then it first seemed for all involved. Seeing as most people participating have high-speed internet connections, we have opted to change the system back to the old method: just the pure Adobe .AI or .PSD files.
Some contributing factors:
- lots of Mac users just don't use the .zip format and we don't want people to have to go install software just to compress their files
- it's easier for our server to do an anti-virus check on pure .AI or .PSD files then it is for it to disassemble a .ZIP file and check all it's contents one-by-one
- zipping and unzipping large files on the web server is not an exact science, and takes a lot of memory
So there you have it; for some design submissions, uploading the pure .AI and .PSD will of course take a bit longer (the more content, in particular high-quality raster content, the longer it's going to take), but weighing all things together this seems to be the most practical way.
