|  |  |  | | | |  | |  | | 1/31/2007: Art flexi-price system online | (Published by Keith Tuomi) | One of the unique things about Zymmetrical (and Flyerstarter) is that we let the Artists set the prices of their art. We are not going to be the ones who set a fixed value on -your- art.
Many pro photographers and designers have been in this business for decades; little ol' Zymmetrical is not going to be the one with the final say on what each of their files should sell for, it's just makes more sense to let the Artists be their own salesmen and adjust prices on the go.
We've fixed up the price-control system for our Artists this week. In your Art Manager you will now see a 'Update Price' button next to all your accepted files that are live on the site.
You can adjust your art prices to between $3 and $99.99 USD.
On the Price Adjustment page you will see your original price (and, if it's a photo, the 'Medium' and 'Small' size prices too). Enter a new price, in dollars and cents (US), and then submit the form and you will see a preview of the new prices.
Note: The split for the different photo sizes (Normal, Medium & Small) is always 100%, 70%, and 40%, for price and file size.
We added the cents option in case people want to try a bit of marketing pyschology. For example, prices such as $19.95, $19.97 or $19.99 typically outperform the price $20. Its an age-old sales concept, and you're welcome to try it.
If you like the new price, confirm it and it will be applied to the file.
Important: You can only update the price for a particular file once every eight days. This restriction is in place to avoid interfering with people who may have already put your file in their shopping cart.
For example, someone may add a photo of yours to their cart for $10, but not complete the purchase at that time. The next day, you come along and decide to raise the price to $20. Obviously when the customer returns they wouldn't be very impressed when they find their file has increased in cost.
| | 1/29/2007: New Tag Suggestion Tool | (Published by Keith Tuomi) | We are excited to present a handy new function to help our Artists brainstorm for new tags to add to their art inventory.
Simply go to your Art Manager, select one of your existing files and click 'Update Tags'. You then get an input form for up to 20 tags.
After you input at least one word, and press 'Update Tags', you will see a little + icon next to those words. Run your mouse over the plus sign for a particular tag and you'll got a popup with up to 50 possible related words!
