|  |  |  | | | |  | |  | | 7/11/2007: Back to school !!! | (Published by Keith Tuomi) | It is not even the middle of the summer and yet, everyone is already looking for images of schools. Stores, websites, designer are searching for these great and happy ( ya, right) back to school images.
Search your archives or go out early in the morning ( the light looks closer to Autumn lighting) and take pictures of kids with backpacks on, new pencils, waiting for buses or walking to school. Since it is summer, there is a very good chance your local school is closed so you should have plenty of time to take wonderful pictures. Remember, although it might not have been a happy time of the year, your images should not reflect that. Stock photography is there to help sell product, or services so therefore everyone should look happy, glad. Children should look empowered and ready to go, a smile on their faces. Parents should be waving goodbye full of hope and pride.

Soon summer will be gone and we will be slowly getting into the biggest shopping season in the year. Book publishers will be coming out with a lot of new titles, toy makers with new products and department stores will get ready to showcase them all. Everyone, almost everyone will advertise. And that means they will be looking for illustrations; Photo, Video, graphics. Everything and anything that speaks joy, surprise, happiness, fun and holiday.
Time for you to go back into your images of last year, Christmas maybe or Thanksgiving. Select the ones you think will be graphically interesting.
Always keep in mind that at least 1/4 to 1/16 should have a smooth surface for text. In the case of a book cover, it should mostly be above, of course. But anywhere could do.
It is important to think concepts. Colors are usually green and red, with Gold and Silver as strong contenders.
Ribbons, gifts wrapping, stars are always in demand, as well as scissors. And of course children, happy children, as from November to December , the season is mostly for children. And remember, have fun.
