That's certainly GIMP. It is not so powerful like Photoshop, but comes pretty close. Some may tell you it's hard to use and that the interface sucks, but those who say that are people already used to Photoshop ways. Everyone feels uncomfortable with things different than what we are used to, so no surprise they say that.

If you're new to both, try the default GIMP. If you're used to Photoshop and don't like GIMP interface use GIMPshop:

http://www.gimpshop.com/

Also, keep in mind that most free, as in beer, software are free to use for personal use and forbid commercial usage. That excludes uploading to stock sites, I'm afraid... You won't have that problem with GIMP.

I recently downloaded GIMP2, because I heard that it was almost ESSENTIAL to good photo editing.

But I'm so used to Photoshop that I'm too lazy to 'convert' to GIMP. I'm sure that it's the next best thing to Photoshop, though... especially because GIMP is free.

Pilvi, try Gimpshop, it's a Gimp version tailored for Photoshop users. You'll feel more at home. Check my post up there for the link.

I will go with Gimp because everybody most of the people that is using this software are satisfied with its performance. I have never used any free software before I will to rely on my friends.

I used GIMP before and I was very satisfied with it. But I got the chance of trying Photoshop. It was harder to learn than GIMP but once you get used to it, it's wonderful. I honestly like Photoshop better.

I have never tried GIMP before so I'll say PhotoShop. I was fortunate enough to be given a free training on PhotoShop (courtesy of my boss) and I can definitely say that it is simply wonderful. It takes a little bit (well, a lot if you are not technically inclined) of practice but the results are flat-out amazing!

I know what you mean about being not technically inclined. I am definitely one of those people. I had to learn photoshop on my own, and a lot of help from the internet. I really struggled there. But once you get the hang of it, it's probably the easiest to use.

I have just tried Gimp on making my favicon and I am satisfied with the results. I think that Gimp has some features that are like Photoshop but I’m going to buy Photoshop once I have the money.

My sister recently started using paint.net and loves it. She used GIMP before that, and said that paint.net was almost as good, and the interface was a lot better. Me personally, I like photo shop. I've been using it too long to change now.

I also use GIMPshop. In school, I was taught my a strict Photoshop instructor. Since GIMPshop is very similar, the change was easy. GIMPshop is also open source, so I can make changes and additions to the program whenever I want.
