I never like phones with camera. They are not useful. I think people use camera phones only for show off, nothing else. It also decreases the efficiency of the mobile phone. It makes phone slow. They are expensive also.

What are your opinions?

One of my personal problems with cameras on phones is the extra bulk it adds to the phone. I am used to tiny slim phones that were invisible in my pocket, then I came to America to find that you were still using bricks! I hated it. Cameras on phones will never replace the real thing, so I would rather keep the two devices separate.

yes! camera phones can't replace real cameras.
for me, it's those occasion when I didn't have my camera with me, that I have to switch to camera phone.
and of cos the resolution wise can't be compared to real camera.
otherwise, I seldom snap from my phone.

there are still some higher end camera phones that amazed me.
maybe next time our SLRs can be used to call out to our friends? haha

For those times when I don't have my larger camera on me, I have a credit card digital camera. It's a tiny little thing, does as well as most phone cameras and doesn't take up the space. It lives permanently in my purse, since I don't have to take it out to make a call.....and so I never forget it.

I think they are completely useless. Every pic I've seen from one is horrible.

I find low-fidelity interesting and personal.         I have a Super8 film collection, and enjoy entertaining BBQ guests with 8 track hits from the 70s and 80s.

Cell phone cams (depending on the model) are capable of taking really honest shots.. for some reason a Siemens S55 I had seemed to create dream-like shots with soft focus.. here's a couple:

I think the camera phones serve a purpose for a lot of people. I don't expect to compare the quality of their shots to those of a dedicated camera, though.

Also, I have a Razr, and I don't think I need a phone that's smaller than that.

I don't like the shot of cameras, I still prefer to have it shot on my digi cams. I am not contented the quality of phone cameras and besides good quality cameras on phone are quiet expensive. So I prefer to have it on my digi.

Keith, the photos that you posted did not show up. I am interested in seeing good results from a phone cam, if you can fix it.

I prefer to use my cell phone as little as possible. It so bugs me when someone tries my home phone and then immediately my cell. It's usually not even important.

I don't want to add another function to my phone. No thanks. But, sometimes I'd like to have a camera to take a photo of stupid grammar mistakes on road signs for my blog. : )

Umm no not at all. If you are just trying to capture crazy moments then maybe but not to actually do something with. The mega pixels are never really good at all.

I hate the way my pictures come out. Now get me wrong I have taken photos that actually were a bit nice, they weren't the way I wanted them to turn out but every one in a while you will get some good quality pictures.

I think it's pointless to use a camera phone really I mean you don't get any substance out of it whatsoever so why waste your time using it?

I think that for teenagers, camera phones are very popular.  My teenage kids use them all the time.  For everyone else, I would have to agree with the majority of others here that they are useless.

I don't agree that they add bulk to the phone in all cases.  I have a Razr and don't really see where it adds any bulk to the phone.

I like my camera phone. It comes in handy if the baby is doing something cute and I want a picture of it. I dont use it a lot but it has come in handy for me.

I think camera phones are pretty useful. I actually never had a phone that did not have a camera. It has become second nature to use it. I also disagree with the fact that camera phones are bulky. I have a slider phone with a 2MP camera and is slimmer then the Razr. I got it from the Cingular website and love it to death!

I used to work for one of the auto makers and when I started, I found out that camera phones were not allowed! I had to either buy a new phone without a camera, or leave my phone at home/in the car. It was impossible to find a standard phone with Bluetooth and no camera at the time.

Yeah I can imagine it would be really hard to find a cell phone with no camera at this point. I don't use my camera phone for anything than taking shots of things that I like when on the go and friend's pictures and such. It's handy to have but obviously the quality is nowhere near a dedicated camera. Still, as said before, I kind of like the roughness of the pictures it produces and the bare bones shots I've gotten from it.

I don't agree that people use them "only for show off" because they're so popular and widespread now.  I wouldn't use one except in an instance where I really want a picture and don't have my regular camera handy, though.
