I definitely don't use mine to show off either and I don't think the wide majority of other people do. I think they are really handy to have though because you always have a lo-fi camera with you when you're out and about. It's not about being a snob but more about the convenience of it. |

I don't think that people use camera phones simply to show off, but yes, I don't really like them either. The pixels are saddening, the lighting becomes messed up, and my camera phone can't even zoom in. I've had my camera phone for over two years now, so the ones they're selling now are probably a lot better and more efficient, but I still use a separate camera for my 'pretty' photos.
I always say that it might be practical to own a gadget that can do everything- but what if you lose it? Then you lose your phone, camera, schedule, AND everything else! The horror!

Camera phone quality will just get better. I tend to have a problem with what they can do - take pics in bathrooms or changing rooms, etc - than the picture quality. I think they are fine tools for teens and others to have fun with though. |

Well yes, there's the problem. It seems like nothing is private any longer and... well frankly that can be scary. I got my first scare with it at a stoplight a couple of years ago when they first starting getting really popular. Looked into the next car and the guy was pointing the camera phone our way.
Now, he probably just got the phone and was testing what it can do, but I did NOT appreciate myself and my family being part of his experiment.

That would have bothered me too. There are far too many stories about people showing up in pictures online or morphed into some video skit on youtube or something. Of course, these things can be done with regular cameras as well. I guess phone cameras are just another plaything, and not for serious, or even amateur, photographers. |

I think I'm like the majority of people who say that camera phones are just for showing off. I never bother using mine- It can't beat the features that an actual camera has. And yes, I've seen my share of disturbing pictures from camera phones that definitely can't be categorized as art, |

there are now phones that are slimmer and with cameras, having a camera with a handphone has become a norm. It can be handy at times when a candid or impromptu photo needs to be taken, or you just to capture the moment. Although the photo quality might not be as good as a real camera's, it is much more convinient to carry your handphone around with you and snap when you feel like it... unless you like bringing your camera with you where ever you go.
All new phone models have cameras on them, it is where the technology is headed where everything gets smaller and more stuff put into it. Very few times would you actually be able o find a new model handphone that came without a camera included.
Besides there's alot of news that have been reported with use camera phones, by people who happened to be a the place at that time, unless you happened to bring out your camera with you than that's a different story.

It depends on the kind of photographer you are and the kinds of photos you want to take I think. Sometimes a camera phone is handy for taking the impromptu snaps. You can't lug around your camera everywhere can you. I have a 3px camera phone...I use it only for some impromptu shots and not at the drop of a hat as it hits the total battery life. For serious shots I always use my digital camera. |

Ofcourse they are useful, they are useful for clicking photos, but nor quality photos. If you want to click quality photos then there is no option for a good quality digital camera. Although for normal photographs mobile cameras are ok. Still then I will say the VGA cameras suck! Atleast mobile cameras should be of 2 MP. |

Personally, I don't use my phone's camera. I always bring my camera with me. I only use my camera phone for when I have no choice. The pictures that you take with your phone's camera cannot compare to pictures taken with a real camera. |

They don't seem worth having to me. If I wanted to take a picture of something, it would easier for me to whip out my camera and get a better picture.

I like my camera phone as well. It does not take the place of my digital camera, but it works wonderfully in a pinch. I do not use mine often and only when I do not have my regular camera with me. It does however take up alot of space on your phones hard drive.

When I got my first camera phone I was so excited. I was just so sure I'd use that thing all the time. Wrong! Now I have had a total of three camera phones and hardly used any of them. To me, the picture quality is so low that it's a waste of time. Usually the only time the camera in my RAZR gets used is when my 6 year old sneaks my phone out and starts snapping pics of our dog. |
