Well, today there are a ton of photo storage/display sites out there, but which one is the best?  What do you use and why?  Maybe we can help newer users make an educated decision about which one to use.

I used to use Sony Imagestation, but they ceased operation late last year and I had to transfer the pictures I took to Shutterfly.  Sony did it for me, so that was cool.  One thing that I did like about Sony's site is that you could download the original image, but with Snapfish, you can't.

Has anyone used Flickr?  I have thought about using it, but I don't like that you have to pay to create more than 3 albums.  I also don't like that the uploads are limited per month for the free account.  Can anyone tell me if the subscription is worth it?

A lot of questions here, I know, but all advice is welcome.

I use Flickr. I currently love it. I learned that by tagging there is no need for albums. I can create tags for various events and it works just the same. I am thinking about getting the subscription because from what I hear it is totally worth it. Any subscribers out there who can share their experience?

What else do you get other than being able to make more than 3 albums? Is the upload bandwidth unlimited? Do you get unlimited space on their servers?

I see graphics and photos whose URL is flickr all over the place - it must be really popular. I admit I host all my graphics and any photos I want to share on my own websites.

Can someone tell me if there is a benefit to hosting on a site made for image hosting? What do you get besides hosting space? Anything?

You get a few things.  First and foremost, almost all of the hosting sites offer to send you prints of your photos for a small fee.  This would obviously be instead of you printing them on your own.  Some of the sites offer editing tools, though I don't know how well they work.  I think that probably the most valuable feature is that it is easy to upload and share photos online with family and friends, without having to know anything about web programming.

Flickr is the only one I've ever really needed to use and it's been good enough to keep me from looking too much for anything else. I don't know if it's too good for the more advanced photographer but for me it offers enough storage and sorting that I'm happy.

Well, of course they are excellent for people without websites. :) I think I will have to spend some time investigating them. I suppose a service like Flickr can get you exposure as well if you are branding your name or nickname as a digital graphic artist or photographer.

I just use photobucket since that's the first image-storing site I came across that didn't suddenly go down for some reason or another. I admit that they aren't the best site in the world, but they're reliable anyways. Maybe I'll move to something else eventually, but not at the moment!

Ah... I have a dinosaur machine here and although I was about to check into photobucket from all the good recommendations, I may have to think twice about it.  I really don't need any more sites that are so frustratingly slow to load.

I used to upload at Photobucket, but I honestly find their interface a bit uneasy on the eyes. I like Flickr though. One can also try these three, they are quite good and free (at least so far) :
www.photostockplus.com
www.fotopic.net
www.pbase.com
You should add Avvenu.com to you list of photo hosting. Avvenu allows you host your photos on your own PC and share them with others.

I use Multiply. It's a free website where you can post pictures for everyone to see. What I like about it is, you can limit the people who can see your albums. You can choose to show it only to your contacts or only to your family, or your co-workers. You can even handpick the people who can view each album.

I’m just using Photobucket right now because I have found them easy to used compared to other photo storage site that I used to upload my images. I haven’t used Flickr though and I think that I will never will as long as I’m satisfied with my current photo hosting site.

I also use photobucket for general photo storage. I am glad you started this topic though as I am now going to check out some of the other suggestions.

I have been using my MySpace page to store my photos in my album there. I also have some stored on RockYou.com. I do occasionally use Tinypics too, but haven't actually started an album there. I must say though, I really think Webshots is great too and have used it in the past as well.
