Hi All,
The site was probably a bit buggy / inaccessible over the weekend for a lot of you, for this we apologize.
Speed and simplicity are a top priority for the site, and to this effect we've been trying some new turbo-charging techniques.. the one we tried this weekend turned out to make our live web server act wonky even though it worked well in testing. Sorry!
As always, please let us know if you experience anything you think is not normal, we depend on your feedback.

Hey Keith,
Thanks for your diligence. :) For some time now the site has 'bogged' for me - loaded terribly slow no matter what machine or connection I was on. As of tonight it seems pretty zippy - whatever your last attempt was on the server issues seems to have done somethin' positive! :) |

It's been a while since I was on the site, but the last couple of times it seems to be much quicker.
I'm not sure why that is. Has something changed to make the pages load faster?

We've been constantly tweaking and re-architecting the site over the last few months. There's -always- more that can be done to improve performance. Thankfully, we have some of the best programmers in the world on call to advise during the beta phase.. so we've seen some big payoffs lately.
A case in point: Every time someone loads a web page on a complex site, it normally makes a call to the database to say 'hey, has anything changed on this page?', and deliver the content. Connecting to the database is pretty quick by human terms, but when you multiply it by a number of users all accessing the database at the same time, it can add up to a noticeable lag.
So what we do is cache the pages; if the page hasn't been changed (no new message posts, blog entries, files, etc.), no need to call the database. So the page is downloaded pretty much as fast as your browser can process the content on it.
It's great to hear users reporting good speed results, especially as we are recently very much spiking in activity.

| It's some timey to me, I mean noticed that sometimes it runs fast and others it runs slow. I thought it was my internet connection but it's just the site. |
