That’s an interesting list. I noticed to that there aren’t enough medical images in place. I will have to keep that in mind.

Also, what about location shots..places for instance to define a region?

By the way, what is the fee for selling my photographs on here and do I maintain the rights?

Yes, medical is very hot stuff. For starters, there's about 10 billion new pharmacy websites popping up a day hawking products like your inbox's favorite 'Male Health' products..     big business = big demand for photos on this topic. Also related to this would be shots of vigorous people doing healthy stuff, or the ever-popular 'extremely slim woman with a tape measure around her waist'.

In general humanity is living longer, while becoming more reliant on medical technology to get them there, so you can bank on the advertising for this stuff always needing fresh content.

We do have several geographic/location-specific categories in our photo categories.  The shots submitted better be pretty innovative though, as we will not approve your run-of-the-mill tourist type shots. Remember that there are thousands of hardcore pro travel and tourism photographers on the job; if you want to beat them at their own game you need something really creative.

Or, you can just wait for a UFO to crash into the Eiffel tower and market that shot..

50% flat commission on sold works, and yes, the Artist retains ownership of the files sold on their behalf. We are just a venue for selling.

I have noticed that a lot of stock sites are looking for medical shots right now. Anyone who knows a doctor or has contacts in the hospital could make a killing! :) I will have to see what I can do, since my sister in law is a nurse.

Why haven't I been in this thread before? Where can we find the lists specific geographic locations that must be portrayed in the photos. Are there also specifications for the color or race of people that'll grace the photos?

Edit

Why not sticky this thread?

I guess I should have read this list more first :P eek. Ah well, no is such a short word.

How do I remove photos that I submitted? Or do I just wait till they are rejected?

The list is not intended as bible, just an indicator of what sells better.. we will give all submissions a fair shake. Your latest submissions will be reviewed shortly.

It's good that your brought this up: we will add a link to this message thread on the Photo Submission page guidelines, so that people can be aware of it.

Thank you for clarifying that for me Keith. It can be hard to know where to start on a new site.

Wow that's great for you!

I would have no idea where I could get my hands on being able to do medical photographs.. the best I could do is taking pictures of medication or something like that..

I had no idea medical photos worth so much!

As per our Forum Guidelines, we don't really encourage discussion of exact sales details. The Artists selling files on the site are considered partners in our success, and as is the case with most businesses, giving out sales figures and such and is not a normal thing.

Just think, if you were a customer and arrived in an art gallery, and the artists were all standing around talking about how much they sold their latest pieces for.

We of course don't generate the sales as some of the bigger agencies, but then again we are on the way up..  so we'd like to keep the focus on what kind of content sells, and sharing ideas through the forum.  No one's buying yachts with their art earnings yet, let's leave it at that.

One thing about the medical pictures is to pay special attention to keep out any brand names or trademarks - you will notice on the sample prescription pill picture that the scene has been purposefully rendered 'generic'. The reason: customers who use these pictures generally want to imply a medical theme, but as with most stock photography, brand names and trademarks are a no-no.

This list gave me a new direction.  I have been taking animal and nature type shots but now I will point myself in the right sales direction.  Thanks.

Thanks for being so exact and forthright.  It helps a lot to know what will be needed and what won't.  You're the best!
