I've made my design in Photoshop. Is there a way to convert my photoshop file into a html file that automatically does my tables and layout based on my photoshop design? Or...something similar to what I'm trying to say? If there is a way, could someone tell me how to do it please?
Basically after doing a design in Photoshop, what are the next steps to put that into html?
Thank you very much. |

| You can look at HTML guides or layout making/coding tutorials. Some of them are very useful. Do you mean DreamWeaver? It is a software used to create webpages and graphics of the sort. :) |

I have seen a program that will take a graphic and attempt to make a webpage out of it's layout, but it was at least several years ago. I am afraid I cannot remember the name of the program or website that did this.

Juni, do you mean a whole page layout or just a graphical theme? Do you need to translate web page text generated in photoshop as well, or only the images?
And...what version of Photoshop are you using? :)

Posted By Keith Tuomi on 04/24/2007 2:47 PM These guys look pretty good:

If you're outputting from PSD to HTML, you might as well make it extra geeky-cool and make it XHTML compliant and all that snazzy stuff.
Pretty pricey though.. one day we hope to hire a team of people like that to convert Zymmetrical over. Cool service but I guess they still do it the traditional way, by slicing PSD layouts and coding them in XHTML.
I'm looking for something that could code the slices automatically too but nobody seemed to have come out with right software yet.

How is it possible? I mean to say these two are completly different things!!If there is such convertor then it makes HTMl more powerful and Web designing will be a easy task.

Yes the two are completely different. The program would rely on picking out it's own elements from what you input to it, and it would decide how to render it in HTML. I am not sure I would want a program to have that degree of control over my site, personally.

| I know in Photoshop 7 you can slice your psd file and under File > Save Save for Web and then hit the save button you get the option of being able to save the file as Images, HTML or HTML & Images. To have links and such, you could play around with the setting option. By doing that you'd get your basic HTML file with your design, though if you want anything more fancy you have to get down to the code and make changes yourself. Dreamweaver is one good tool for coding and editing html code too. |

Isn't slicing basically cutting up a graphic and getting the code (HTML) that tells the browser where all the bits of graphic go?
I started web design doing HTML in Notepad and now I'm still doing my CSS and XHTML in Notepad. I have no clue about these Dreamweaver, website generator, content management, whatever thingies. |

though slicing basically cuts up a graphic and convetrts it into HTML code, it makes the job easier sometimes, and it allows you to even modify the output of the HTML code (e.g. layout and display of your graphic as background image or just image). It doesn't just generate the HTML code, you are able to modify it within Photoshop if you want.
And as for Dreamweaver, it is one of the most common tools used by developers and designers for website layout all over. Notepad is good, if you are good at it and have no need for a preview while you work, I find that all that black and white makes it hard to see where I went wrong if the code comes out wrongly, especially so if the code was done by some one esle and not indented; it's too basic. Dreamweaver makes it easy on the eyes, even if you are doing something simple. It is a useful tool and has more functions too. Notepad, I will only use if I have no choice lol |

Well, it is quite possible to get a preview while you work using notepad. You just have to save the file as .html instead of straight text. :)
So, Dreamweaver is an HTML program that just colors the codes for you? I've seen some free ones that do that. |

| I suggest using dreamweaver o help you import a .psd design into html. I've used it a few times without too much trouble (though it ws a real pain in the beginning when I was still getting used to the program). I think that's your best bet, and there are plenty of tutorials that go along with it as well! |

| I agree with silversong642, Dreamweaver is one of those softwares that let you get the job done in less than half the time used when compared if you were using notepad alone... |

Have you tried doing it on Notepad? It is very easy putting on your site. Just code the pictures to your site like this one. You wouldn’t have any trouble of doing it because it is very easy.

Using notepad is easy if you know what you are doing that is... using a software helps to speed up the time taken to create a html page. and you can view the changes as they're being made concurrently, not having to save the file in notepage and refreshing your broweser saves time... =)
notepad in itself is a very good basic essential tool. that is about it
